Three houses in Beinwil am See

Although there are three individual houses, from an architectural point of view it is a single building 70 m long and 10 m deep. This consists of two layers in the longitudinal direction: one is a sequence of closed, private spaces, the other is seen as a transparent, communicative sequence of spaces. The gardens and courtyards belong to all three houses and thus connect them into a whole. The issue of public and private is not resolved here by erecting walls or hedges, but by the interplay of shared space and introverted space. The result is an extremely generous ambience, despite the limited size of the houses.

The principle of division into two parts is also applied to each individual house: one half of the house is heated, the other cold. The interior has only 120 m2 of living space, but the portico gives this space a much larger dimension and a unique atmosphere.
