with Livio Vacchini

We imagine the patient lying in his bed, his relation to himself and to others. First we have to define the correct elevation of the floor of the room. A slightly elevated position seems right to us, all rooms are thought to be on the same level, all with the same, intimate relation to the garden, but still protected, not open to the public.
The beds are oriented towards the window and the garden; trees, light, clouds, birds, changing day and seasons should be the daily sight, thematised in the individual gardens.
These considerations led to an introverted architectural form, which is, however, not self-contained: angularly, the rooms with their terraces enclose a common garden space, and through the trees I perceive the second group of rooms without too close contact: life in a community.
Outside the room we find bright paths leading to the common spaces: Living, Dining, Smoking, Playing, where there are other views of the garden, the landscape beyond and the city skyline: the opening to the outside. The main hall houses the communal areas and the waiting zones, which are given specific moods by the 6 very differently designed gardens. Garden of fragrances, garden of sounds, garden of colours ....
