Study Commission
The Institute of Virology and Immunology (IVI) works on innovative solutions to combat viral animal diseases and zoonoses and provides diagnostics in crisis situations. The project involves highly complex laboratory structures in strict security zones.
The new buildings are intended to complement the institute's existing structures and form a new harmonious ensemble by incorporating and further developing the volumetrics, orientations and roof shapes of the existing buildings.
The existing laboratory buildings can all continue to be used as highly equipped laboratory buildings. To this end, a simple intervention in the structural shell will increase the ceiling height and achieve a level of flexibility that will enable future-proof laboratories to be created even in the existing buildings.
