The ward block and the treatment section of the west wing will be converted in the same way as the east wing.
The increase in space required for the new operating wing and the gynaecological clinic is understood as an extension of the existing building typology, in that the examination and treatment wing undergoes a geometrically precise expansion.
This new square building is based on a large-scale, concentric structure that allows flexible use of space.
The outpatient department of the gynaecological clinic, the surgery department and the delivery rooms are variations of the same basic structure.
New types of operating and building departments are developed in the floor plans. Due to the chosen light direction - from the façade and from the centre - all rooms are naturally lit despite the great depths of the rooms.
The exterior façade fulfils the complex requirements in terms of aesthetics, spatial and lighting quality, freedom from glare, visual control, energy and building physics criteria. The harmony between the façades of the old building and the extension is achieved by adopting the floor order, the proportions and the load-bearing structure visible in the façade image.
