From an architectural perspective, the three separate volumes effectively constitute a single building, 70 m long and 10 m deep.
In longitudinal direction, this comprises two layers: the first is a sequence of closed-off, private spaces while the second reads as a transparent, communicative "enfilade". The gardens and yards are shared by all three houses, which they stitch together into a unified whole. Here, the theme of public and private is not resolved by erecting walls or hedges, but by the interplay of common and introverted space. Despite the limited proportions of the houses, the overall composition has a very spacious feel.
A bipartite arrangement is also adopted within each individual house, one half of which is heated and the other not. Although the interior has a living area only 120 m2, the portico considerably enlarges the spatial experience and creates a unique ambience.
